Real-life Superheroes
Orange called my attention to a pretty awesome phenomenon: real people who dress like superheroes while doing good deeds. This is so awesome. Here’s the link to their online lair.

I bought a Street Spirit this evening on my way to the BART. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes when I read one of the cover stories. Fresno mayor Alan Autry (you may remember him as Bubba on the TV show In the Heat of the Night) has decided it’s a good idea to store homeless people in storage sheds. As soon as I got home I had to source this story, to make sure it wasn’t made up. Sure enough, it’s true. (See more here, here, here, and here.)
All I have to say is, WTF?! Is this seriously how we as a civilized society are going to deal with “the homeless problem” (quotes meant to imply sarcasm)? The sheds have no running water, no toilets, no heating, and no cooling. Although I didn’t grow up in Fresno proper, I’m pretty ashamed of this action taken by the mayor and city council of Fresno. One person in Street Wise had an astute observation:
If you put one of these tool sheds in your back yard and tried to move your mother-in-law into it, you would probably be in violation of numerous building code violations.
Tell me, is it really appropriate to use a taser on a non-violent speeding ticket violation? And, exactly when did the guy get his Miranda Rights read to him?
Simply amazing. I love the messages communicated here. These two guys are non-violently protesting Alberto Gonzales and his abuses on habeus corpus and civil rights. But, the beauty is that even their removal from the stage has a message. Brilliant. More of this, please.
This is the best thing I saw all day today. (Note, I can’t figure out how to embed it, so you’ll have to click through.)
I guess I’ve gotta give props to Huckabee for having a sense of humor. Seriously?! This line is great: “There’s no chin behind Chuck Norris’ beard. Only another fist.”
Too bad Chuck Norris is a huge douche.
Nagu forwarded me a link today. What I already knew was that Conservapedia exists as the conservatives’ alternative to Wikipedia as a source of online information. What I didn’t know is that Conservapedia has a stats page that shows the most viewed pages. What’s the obsession with homosexuality. Maybe Mark Foley, Larry Craig, or Bob Allen can explain it to us…
(Update: In case this page changes, here’s a screen cap from the day of the original blog post.)
Here’s the newest gay-themed ad from D&G. I love the music in this ad and their previous ads.
Previous D&G gay ads after the jump.
