Why Copyright and Trademark Laws Suck
First I read on Halloween that JK Rowling is suing a fellow author who is writing an unofficial companion book to the Harry Potter series. The Machinist has a great follow up piece today on why the courts should rule against her. A must read.
Then, of course, the news that Prince is threatening to sue his fans. WTF?! How effed-in-the-head can rich celebrities get? I guess the only limit is the effed-up state of current copyright and trademark laws. Which, sadly, means things can get a whole lot worse than JK and Prince are demonstrating.
