I’ve never watched American Idol. That is, until this season. And not even until the final 6 of this season. I think my interest was piqued by all the hubbub over Sanjaya getting cut and the gay blogosphere coverage of the (fantasy) love affair between Chris and Blake (images after the jump).

By the time I started watching the contest was down to six finalists: Blake, Chris, Phil, Lakisha, Jordin, and Melinda. Not long after I started watching, Chris got sent home. I was bummed because he was cute in Justin Timberlake sort of way. But, at least cutie beatboxer Blake was still in the picture.

Last week, to my surprise, Melinda got voted off. I totally thought it would come down to Melinda and Jordin. At this point, I don’t think Blake has what it takes to win. I predict Jordin Sparks will be the next Idol. Not that I care all that much who wins. But it is kind of fun to follow along and get into random conversations about Idol with family, friends, and bosses.

Update: I totally skipped on watching tonight’s episode where Blake and Jordin squared off. I chose to go to yoga instead. My heart’s just not in it anymore. And I’m not sure if I’ll be able to see tomorrow night’s finale, what with the two-hour LOST finale on too. Argh!
